My Nose Bidet

my nose bidet by sinucleanse neti potsI first learned about Neti pots on the Oprah Winfrey Show. One of the guests in the audience and Doctor Oz called it a "nose bidet." This device was very interesting as I have always had sinus problems. I suffer from allergies, sinusitis, sinus colds and headaches, and I have always had trouble breathing through my nose. I even had deviated septum surgery when I was a teenager.

After learning about neti pots, I decided to try one out. I found a Sinu-cleanse pot with 60 saline packets on eBay. I think I paid around 20 bucks plus shipping. I have also seen this product and the refill packets on Amazon.com .

My nose bidet is pretty easy to use and it does the job of cleaning out my sinuses. I pour one saline packet in the neti pot and mix with lukewarm water. Stir it well with a small plastic spoon ( one is provided with the SinuCleanse). It's a little weird and awkward using this thing at first. After all you are basically flushing salt water throughout the cavities in your head- your sinus cavities. You tilt your head and tilt the neti pot up. The pot makes a seal with one nostril and the saline solution runs through your head and out the other nostril. You repeat on the other side and after some weird feelings your nose is clear. Here are some pages I came across that have more information on neti:
